Rolex is an alternate spelling for overrated (see also, over·priced). She doesn't need to make her brother-in-law become conceited, she wants to enhance his masculinity. Everyone knows that Breitling is the standard for aviators' watches. All others are just pretenders.

That said, I wear a Timex Expedition. I derive my masculinity elsewhere.

Vagabond,

First, thanks for the invite, but I will be unable to attend.

Second, asking this group for advice on masculinity is the same as asking the insane asylum to define crazy. I would not take anything too seriously. Thanks for the vote of confidence, but we do have our issues.

Third, I thought they stopped selling groupie tickets in the 70's. Wow, that was a blast from the past.

Fourth, I have no idea how "doing it wrong" and flying a simulator are the same. You must elaborate, as I am intrigued...

Happy holidays....

To be honest, I don't think buying a watch is a good idea, because unless you ask beforehand you can't be sure he'll like it. I know I'm going to get spanked for saying this, but I personally think Breitlings are some of the ugliest watches ever made. I'll explain with pics:

Hmmm, seems like my frugal all-in-one thread didn't work very well, but thanks to everyone for the advice on a masculine watch. One thing I did not say about my brother-in-law is that he is the father of three sons, one still in the oven. He doesn't need me to help him in that department. As long as my sister is happy, I'm just going to get him a simple watch. Say, does Costco carry the Citizen Skyhawk? I'm leaning towards that. That's the same watch my F-18 friend wears, so there must be something to it.

Ok, so not much hope of having any of you for turkey on the 27th or turkey casserole on the 28th. Oh well.

And doesn't look like too much opportunity for the Museum, although several expressed interest.

About the FS, I say I'm doing something wrong because it doesn't seem very responsive and it's frustrating. The only reason I fool around with it is because I don't have time to run out to my FBO anymore for real lessons. Moose got me into his C-17 at McChord (thanks, Moose, I still think about that visit!); I wonder if any of my Alaska friends can get me into a simulator? Maybe that's too much to ask.

If you want to see a beautiful Breitling, look no further than the classic Navitimer. Also, I lol'd.
