Default Got the GA Bug

It's such a nice day in Seattle today, I've got a yearning to putter around in something that burns gasoline and has one of them twirly thingies up front! Somebody with an RV-8 (or something like it) keeps flying over my house taunting me! Someday.....

Anybody else?

I have 1200 hrs, mostly instructing in planes with one or two of those twirly things up front. I do love GA and I always will, but I REALLY want to GO SOMEWHERE ELSE in something faster...

“Someday” isn’t an impossible dream anymore. Not with LSA costing $110-$130k new. The Cirrus SRS, in particular, looks really cool to me. LSA manufacturers just need to make sure that two adults (about 400 lbs) can take off with full fuel and fly 3+ hours plus VFR reserves. Right now, for instance, you can’t load two adults in to a new Cessna Skycatcher and fill it with fuel.

$110K!?!?! Hell, I wish I could afford a powered parachute!

Yes, very true though. I'd like to get involved with LSA. I believe this will be the next GA segment to see some growth.

Dont fight it.

This took my father and I roughly 18 months of VERY part time work and roughly 60 thousand dollars. I try to get up every chance I can and typically fly at least once a week when weather permits.

HUH! I call 'em "Bug Smashers." No bugs in the flight levels. I got into aviation to fly, not to push buttons. Build something cool, like this>http://www.legendaryaircraft.com/<. I can dream can't I Best part is, I work at the airport. Mabey I could start washing airplanes?

Default low and slow...

I am not sure what I would be living for if I could not fly the C185 tailwheel airplane to do glider tows, drop skydrivers in a modified C182 (->short field TO's in 85 feet) and troll around at 800 AGL teaching 8's on pylons. I'll get to the big jets one day, but I am in no hurry.

They put me through C750 initial this week at FSI. Mostly I see a very automated machine that goes way fast and is optimized for getting from point A to point B quickly. What about everything else...
