Hi!

We don't have "pitch hold" (I have never seen it on a -9). We have a VS wheel, and the center of it (detent) is the altitude hold position, and you have to move it one way or the other to climb or descend.

The ones I flew had pitch hold on the knob on the Left side of the Autopilot along with IAS and Mach hold. Seperate from the V/S wheel in the middle.

I vote for lazyness and lack of pride unless they were new to the aircraft.

Here is what our A/P pitch mode selector looks like - ours must be different from yours.

That looks like the one I flew. The pitch hold was one of the NW guys tricks. It does work.

Hi!

I will try the Pitch Hold thing (if ours works!-IAS/Mach speed modes do not work on ours).

Learn something new every day!

Pitch hold works great! It stops the movement in one direction and allows you to reverse it in the other nice and smoothly...

Coming through 10000, if you have to level off to slow, it works great.
