I've long held that this would be a HUGE part in taking the profession back. Control the supply. We can't depend on the FAA to do it. Doctors govern themselves. They determine the number of people who get into the medical schools, and they set their own exams etc. If ALPA (or some other private entity) took control of the qualifications to work at an airline, we'd get somewhere.

It works extremely well in other "less developed" countries. Their pilots are respected and paid handsomely, even for flying piston twins. Why can't we do this in the USA?
