Curious question for you guys, I noticed that my watch called it quits long ago and been meaning to buy another one. My question is what type of watches do most pilots prefer with out breaking the bank. While doing my first cross country the other day, I realized that I had no way to time waypoint to waypoint. Any suggestions?
Thanks alot

I have the classic Casio dive watch with the gold-color face. Analog with digital readout at the bottom set to UTC. It has a timer that I've used.
For something so think and heavy it's really comfortable. Very solid too, I've had this thing for 10 years.

Years ago on the first date I ever took my wife on we somehow got to talking about things we wanted in life. I told her I wanted a Breitling watch. She asked what it was and I told her it was the Rolex for pilots. She then said, "well, someday whoever you propose to should buy you a Breitling since they are getting a diamond for life." I never let her forget it. So fast forward five years ago when I gave her the ring, I got my Breitling. Love it. It still looks brand new and never misses a beat unless I don't wear it for a few days.

I don't wear a watch at work. Just something else to take off while going thru security.
If I need the time, the FMS has a pretty good GPS time; I hear that has pretty good accuracy. Also, my cell phone works as a good watch when I'm not flying.

Must be nice to have fancy equipment like FMS...I get tired of tuning up HF to set the time on the INS, if I can get the time hack in certain hemispheres. My $50 Times keeps fairly accurate time.

I never wear a watch for airline flying or on my down time, I use my phone. For military missions where I actually need a time hack, I wear a Timex type watch, velcro band, with the indiglo back light feature which is great at night. <$50.

A capt I flew with had this to say about a watch(he is a mil. helo pilot). On a flight from san diego to I believe el centro for a gas stop. While there a f-18 met earth in the wrong way at a few hundred knots. He went out to help with clean up. While out there he saw the end of wing tip pylon pretty much vertical in the ground, some plane parts, and a hand. He goes over to the hand and picks it up. He saw the hand had a watch and decided to see if it was still working. It was a g-shock(the wal-mart cheap one) watch and it was still working and of course still had the correct time. He was sold on the watch and that is what he wears and suggested the same one for me.
