I LOVE watches. For a gift a couple years ago I received the Citizen Skyhawk Blue Angels addition. Great looking and sturdy 'pilot' watch, but I probably wear the thing only 3 or 4 times a month. My velcro-banded Timex w/ Indiglo watch is on me everytime I fly and most any other time as well.

Expensive and fancy pilot watches look nice but they're too hard to read quickly. I'll throw the citizen on if I'm dressing up, but that's about it.

With that said, I would still love a Breitling Navitimer.

Citizen Skyhawk with eco-drive, awesome watch. I've had mine for almost 7 years. It has three batteries that use solar energy to recharge themselves. It's great not having to worry about dead batteries. I had JC Pennys refurbish it a few years ago, they repalced the band and crystal for $65. It looks like a new watch now.

Anything over 300 or so and you are just buying jewelry and a huge ad budget.
A watch is important to me outside the plane for finding the local time and date after crossing eight time zones and sleeping in ten different beds. The newer models even update through an atomic clock radio signal. Casio, Seiko and Citizen are the best for the money.
I like hands for easy readability and the ability to quickly change to local time using the pushers vice the crown.

A Timex Ironman. It has two time zones you can program and switches easily between the two. It's got a countdown timer and three alarms. And of course a stopwatch to time your 40 yard dashes and hurdles between gates.

I second the Ironman with two time zones. I keep one on Zulu and adjust the other one as needed (and very easily, too).

I agree. I have one of these too (Jungle gave us a pic of it). It has all the time zones in it and with the push of two buttons, any one of those times zones can be displayed via the analog hands. My great-grandpa used to call it my GPS since it's big and looks fancy, whenever we'd fly his '58 C172. I've had it since Nov 2002, still ticks like a dream.

Falcon, I've been wondering where to take it to get it cleaned up. Over the years, I've put many scratches on the crystal. The numbers on the E6B bezel have rubbed off too, is JCP capable of replacing that too, you think?

Great story! How come it misses a beat if you don't wear it? Kinetic?
