Default Picked up my first 1911!

Well, I've been itchin for a new Colt Series 70 1911 for many years.. and I finnally got one! I'm really looking forward to shooting this one! It seems very well put together and the trigger is fantastic.

That is a beaut.

Hard to believe the old gal is coming up on her 100th birthday, little changed from when she was born.

Does anyone else compete in shooting competitions? (I use competitions loosely, just a framework for rating your own shooting abilities on the clock compared to others). I go to a tactical rifle meet every month and shoot with my friends with my AR-15. Anyone else run and gun like that?

I have a video of my last match in August if anyone is curious of what it looks like.

Used to do a fair amount of steel plates and movement, current location isn't too good for that kind of range, but get a little in now and then.

Nice form and welcome aboard.

My new Kimber, i really like the nighthawk custom grips and the Mecgar 8 rounders. Just ordered a S&A magwell. Im very happy with it.

I hope those aren't real bricks you've laid that sculpture on.

Nice TLE. I may consider one for my next 1911 purchase for something a little more custom and competition friendly like having a magwell, better sights and a beavertail grip. (Either a Kimber TLE or a Colt XSE or custom, maybe a Springer) Budget wise that may be a while though. I'll probably get another rifle and wheel gun before another 1911. I think I"m going to keep my Colt just the way it is, although I may put some different sights on it. We'll see. Thats the cool thing with 1911's though - so many options!

Looks like composite decking - which reminds me.. I have to reseal mine before we have nothing but rain for the next several months here in seattle... dang it!
