Goatees at jet blue

I do remember this thread talking about aviators having to make a O2 seal and whether it would interfere. Here is one:
There are a whole lot of pilots, private and otherwise, flying around with facial hair.
If it interferred with O2 significantly, there'd probably be a rule to that effect

i suspect it goes back to military pilots not wearing a beard so as to insure a good seal for long periods of time on O2
I wonder if many aviators had beards if they came more from other communties than the tacair community

Grooming and Dress
No one is permitted to travel in the cockpit wearing a beard/goatee. All persons traveling in the cockpit are expected to adhere to the grooming standards of a United Flight Officer addressed in the FOM Administration chapter. See also the Company Travel Dress Code for First and Business Class in SkyNet. All carriers with reciprocal agreements are aware of United’s policy.
So I guess a soul patch is cool?

As long as they cut their hair and shave.
I've got a friend that I grew up with in New Mexico who flies for UAL he is a pure blood Apache. He tried the long hair on religious grounds bit. It didn't fly.
I saw a pilot in LHR with a turbine and a full on beard. I'm thinking he was an Air India guy.
Does the Air Force allow Sikh pilots to have long hair and a beard? Do THEY make an exception for religious purposes. After all they are the US government the most fair and politically correct of all entities..Right?
