"Are YOU our pilot?"

Me: "yep, I have been on work experience for the last week and now they are letting me do this one on my own."

Pax: "wow! Really?"

Me: "sure, on take off you will see my high school out the right window."

we got in and took off, everyone is looking for the school... In the climb out I told them I was pulling their leg. They laughed, I still hear from the pax every once in a while.

I was 19 at the time flying clunky old 210s.

While waiting at the curb for the hotel van, a car pulls up.
The driver says, "Will you give me a ticket if I park here and go in?"
I say, "nope." ;)

After landing, my young blonde FO and I are walking through the terminal.
An old man stops me and asks, "Is she a pilot?"
I say, "yes."
He asks, "you let her fly the plane?"
I say, "yes, and we let her vote now too." :p

Are you a pilot?

Various responses from me run from "No, I'm a stripper and this is my get-up" (this is usually met with stunned silence), to "I pretend to be!" to "I hope so because I'm flying you to XXX, and it's my first time!"

I'm usually in blazer and hat too, almost everyday.

I have been called bellboy at hotels too. That's usually a good one, because I ask for an exorbitant amount of money.

One time I showed up at the office in a suit instead of my usual clothes.

Coworkers: "Wow.. Do you have an interview today?"

Me: "Nope just trying to look professional for a change."

Coworkers: "Hahahaha yeah right."

Me: "Dangit!"

I didn't say it had to be a "PILOT" uniform! :)

While on the train in DEN.........."are you well rested?" (rudely)

After an odd pause and a blank stare....."I'm sorry, what were you saying, I was asleep."

wow... people have some nerve.

when I was flying caravans I was asked numerous times if I was old enough... I was 24 at the time. I even had one guy get irate with me and wanted to speak to a supervisor; said that there was no way I should be allowed to fly at my age. Told him to pick up the phone to the automated check in and someone would help him out.. he didnt like that very much; but he shut up.

while jumpseating home to PIT from ABQ I had people ask me where their gate was. I was very new at the time and hadnt worn my uniform much on the secured side of the airport. ABQ only has a couple gates A and B; I was dumbfounded. Same thing happened in DFW.. people asking where their gate was. I just said I had no clue cause this my first time here. Most didnt believe me and stormed off.

One time while standing in front of the shuttle bus from one terminal to another, I was asked "Is this your bus?"

hahaha awesome.

Once on a hotel van on the way to the airport..

Guy: "Wow, thats a really big watch you have on!"

Me: "Ya I know, I need a big watch to tell time since I have terrible vision"

Guy: *terrified look on his face followed by silence*

on the way to the overnite, driver stays put, CA opens the rear cargo door and hoists his bag in. naturally, I follow his lead and proceed to open the pax door - something doesn't look quite right so I asked the lady if this was the crew van - to which she replied no. I asked her what was her rxn to us piling in like that and she calmly retorted that if needed a ride that she would take us :)
