Default Thanks apc........you finally got it right!!

I've been a member (sometimes not in very good standing albeit....) of APC for several years now. Throughout the years we've seen some "good" moderating, some "mediocre" moderating, and some downright "HORRIBLE" moderating. Over the past few months though, it seems the moderating has finally reached a pretty good level. When posters get out of line, others usually ignore or shut them down. Used to be the poster would get a "violation", a point or two, and the threat of being banned. Out of 20 threads, five or six were closed due to "overmoderation" or the proverbial "violation of terms of use". Lately that hasn't been the case and it's made for a much better forum in my opinion. I recently spoke to one of the founders and told him how much better I think this forum is being run and he was glad to hear it. Thanks for finally getting it right APC!!

Thanks for the kind words. We do miss things from time to time though, so we can always use help from our members. Never hesitate to use the reporting function if you feel a post violates TOS.

When some of the threads go bad, they seem to REALLY go bad. But, it seems like its been awhile since we've had to deal with that.

Perhaps the posters themselves are the reason why things seem smoother?

Thanks, though !!!

I agree with the OP, it was over moderated in the past and it stunk.

Gotta agree with OP, ewrbasedpilot. Those threads that get sidetracked are put back on the beam by the MODS or if it gets too crazy, they just shut it down, which IMO is good! Most times now if someone attempts to get me in some kind of poignant discussion and the comments come across as being personal, I just don't respond.

Back then, the forum allowed some pretty intense exchanges. I remember one about Affirmative Action. The discussions were intense and formidable, however, the members remained civil. It was a good thread.

On the other hand, for a while thereafter, to me at least, some got real opinionated in their posts and if you didn't see it their way or agree with them on any particular issue then you were perceived as NOT being one of the boys....so to speak. I'm a team player.....just not that kind.

At any rate, ewr, I remember you back in the day when I first joined APC. It's good to see an "old head" around the forums again.

I just noticed that Ewr is on the first page of users on APC by seniority, one of the first among 28,000. Neat!
