Default Headset for 757/767

Sorry if this has been posted, but I've been searching for the last few minutes and can't find much.

Any single-ear headset recommendations for this aircraft? I've been using the Telex 750s supplied by the company, but I'd prefer to have my own set. Also, I've been finding it somewhat annoying to have to push the other ear piece behind my ear to talk to the other guy. Thanks all.

Most of the people that I have flown with have used ear molds in the outboard ear only which leaves the inboard ear for talking with the other pilot. I think this is pretty standard in the airline world.

Custom Molded Pilot Earpieces

He's an AA pilot that owns this business. He sends you the kit, you do the mold, mail it to the lab and then they send you the completed earpiece. Toward the bottom, he's got combo packs with the earpiece and headset.

If you don't want to mess with DIY'ing the earmold, you can also get them made at your local audiologist or purveyor of hearing aids.

Correct.

The Plantronics is what I use, but a lot of people use the Telex 5x5. Either will work, and ANY audiologist in your local area who makes hearing aids can make you an ear mold for either headset.

Locals are better because instead of sending you wax and *hoping* you will get it right, the local audiologist will use a liquid latex that hardens while you sit there for 3 or 4 minutes, then they send it off to be custom made, you get it back in 7-10 days, same as the "kit". The latex conforms to the inner curves of your ear better.

I tried twice to get the "wax" kit from that doc to work properly, it fitted "ok" but never as good as the audiologist's. ymmv good luck.
