Default Flight Students have lowest ACT scores

Just read that the University of Illinois is canceling their 50 year old aviation program in part because flight students are dumb in relation to the other educational disciplines at the school.

Comments.

I don't think that is the major reason they are cancelling their program. I applied there with a 26 ACT and 3.1 GPA in High School and I wasn't even weight listed, just flat out denied.

Although I guess a 26 compared to their College of Business 28 Minimum ACT to get in....

I didn't say that was the MAJOR reason. But, their words were, in part, that pilot scholar applicants are dumb in comparison.

And you were denied because they are canceling the program, correct? Not based on your grades?

I think YOUR dumb!
Of course I'm speaking to the ones who advocated such at the university - not you personally Tony

I'm sure that the Underwater Basket Weaving majors (read the sportsmen (and women?)) who are graduating college but are illiterate (e.g. - having or demonstrating very little or no education; unable to read and write).
have lower ACT/SAT scores and/or a lower GPA; or at least they SHOULD HAVE!

That's actually quite degrading to their students..."well guys, we're gonna close up the program you're in, so expect your resources to rapidly fall off...oh yeah and by the way, you guys are all pretty stupid too. But if you could keep writing us those checks, that'd be great."

I suspect that the real reason is given in the last sentence of the article:
Officials have estimated that closing the program would save at least $500,000 a year.

Another thread was just posted about this and one of the replies was from someone who actually works in the program and they said that this article was not correct. They are wanting to close the program but have not yet aprooved its closure.

Does anyone else think that the spelling in this thread is so ironic?! I found myself laughing halfway through this one.
