I've got well over 3000 hours in various 737's, 200, 300, 500 and I don't have a type. In the U.S.A it used to be very common for F/O's on domestic only aircraft to fly as F/O without a type rating. You went through all the training that the PIC did you even took the same check ride you just didn't receive a type at the end. Things have now changed for the most part and most F/O's are getting typed as F/O's at most major airlines.

I would love to get an offer from a company and then use this to help get me typed in the aircraft they use but I think my chances of finding a job are greater with an ATP and the type is again a bonus. So the question is what type would benefit me best in the future.

Being in the airline side of the industry I think I might be able to get a future employer to pay for a 737 type down the road but not sure I will have an opportunity to get a business just type paid for later on..

I did find some other information out and it sounds like a lot of the information on the state website is outdated. Mostly the cost of the programs, the CE-500 is not 9k its 10,900 and the CE-525 is 11,500. I also found more options for types like there is a G-IV option but like has been mentioned here it is around 30k, with the WIA only covering 8k that leaves me with a bill for 22k for a type a may never use (I would love to fly it but don't think I know the right people).

So out of the approved list it looks like I could get a 737, 75/67, CE-500 or CE-525. Looks like it would cover all of the 737, the 75/67 is about 12k so I would have to cover the difference and it looks like both the CE-500&525 are around 9k so again I would be out of pocket for the difference. Which one would you get and why?

Thanks for taking the time to respond

I'm not anywhere near that point, however, I would take the 737. That's one of the airliners of the future. Besides, the cost is covered.

Good luck!
