Doctors/Medical Professionals on this forum..
Under the regional sub forum, Go Jet Training thread, folks are speculating doctors don't bicker about who has the better hospital, better school, or complain on the forums online...etc. I would guess that doctors and med professionals do. Just curious about the comraderie or lack thereof on that side of the fence.
I believe CardioMD made reference to a medical forum where there was some amount of complaining...

I said nothing about doctor, lawyers, computer programmers, or any ohter position not complaining
In the medical field I would think that techniques, insurance practices, MediCare, the new Health Care plan and which side of the line you on probably all lead to some of their own heated debates. I know in the law office they are fighting about their own cases and the pros and cons of each before they even meet with the PDs or Defense Attorneys!

You're referring to my post where I said that doctor's aren't on a forum bickering that one hospital is taking another hospitals patients - like regional pilots do about one carrier underbidding another.

What I would also say is that "heated debates" have little place in the professional sphere, and **absolutely not** in the OR, and would definitely hope not in the cockpit... I've had a few CRNA or tech staff go on some reactionary commentary about "gays" or stereotyping "blacks," "liberals" or whatever "hotbutton issue," and they are asked to tone it down, if it continues they get a swift and direct warning to shut up, and if it continues they are out of my OR. If it happens another time I would recommend dismissal, and they are never on my team again.
(for some reason has is always been right-wing, but if somebody went off in some extreme fashion a la Michael Moore, I would have the same reaction.)
We all have to work together, and making broad statements, via quasi-racist or supporting extreme intolerance, just distracts from our most important task at hand.
I've always had high regard for the "pilot's personality" which growing up I always thought was the height of professionalism... My earliest instructor was an ex-military Sergeant Major who was a pure joy to work with. He was cool under pressure, never catty, or retaliatory or "picking fights," smart and supportive, and just a born leader. He'd never blame others or be needlessly derogatory. Always tried to get me to join as an officer, but it just is not for me. I'm sure a good number of pilots are still like that and strive for that ideal.

No, I'd pretty much say I've never heard anybody bicker about whose medical school is "better." What a pointless discussion... obviously there are certain "tiers" of medical school, but any banter about whose is "better" would almost certainly be in jest... I've never heard such a serious debate.

EDIT I want to re-emphasize my first sentence of this post...just to ensure non-pilots get a better idea of what's going on in the flight deck. Pilots are very civil when getting the job done. Maybe there is complaining in the crew rooms, but not the squabbling we see on the forums. Night and day difference.

Well, I'd say that some people are able to discuss issues in a calm and rational fashion and come up with ideas, while some are not and become rapidly emotional and borderline irrational. I'm actually quite careful to avoid any discussion of certain issues with extremes of these types of individuals (witness the broad range of "opinions" on this or any other forum, which draws people that want to broadcast their opinion). Some people just have fixed preconceptions that they will jump on somebody with a response to what they think they are going to say, without listening. A few doctors are this way too, yes, that is definitely true.
There is good "fighting," and bad "fighting." Looking back, yeah, perhaps I've been in some pretty heated debates about patient management, scheduling or staffing, or whatever, and to the outside observer it may look like we are angry, but honestly I respect my colleagues a great deal, we listen to each other, and ultimately are trying to do the best thing for the patient. At the end we could still go for a beer together (but usually are too busy, heh.)
