Not at Delta.

TOTD: anyone who hovers their hand over the flap handle and the gear lever. I'm not impressed that you too know the flap/gear speeds.

How bout the opposite? The captain who completely destroys team unity with his demeanor and borderline condescension. At 2000 AGL (SOP gear dropping point at our shop) you say "Ready for the gear?" only to be rebuffed with a "Not yet. You'll know when I want it". At 1500 AGL another, less direct verbal reminder is ignored. Then as you mentally prepare for the go-around and just before the GPWS warning he realizes his mistake and starts screaming for the gear. Then when you get on the ground he turns it around on you for "inadequate monitoring" and "lack of assertiveness".

It's certainly a two way street. I treat everyone like they know what they're doing until they prove otherwise or the situation is almost to the point that it can't be unf---ed. "Hover handers" are treating people the opposite way and showing it in a very distracting way. From either seat.

I'll do that if the other guy seems oblivious to the imminent need for gear, several flaps, and a checklist right about the time approach is going to give me some instructions and a handoff.
