Trivial stat. This thread is on faster pace than the L&G. It took the L &G one year to reach 1341 posts and this one 1 month. That is all.

I'm going with Sully as TOTD for his, yet another, borderline rant this morning on how regional airlines' safety is far less superior.

I understand he doesn't like the overtaking of flying by regionals..i don't want to see the diminishing of majors as much as the next guy that eventually wants to end up there..but I find it personally insulting to group all regional pilots as unsafe.

He's not trying to personally insult you. He's trying to say that regionals aren't as safe as mainline. That is 100% true. Less experienced pilots working longer days with less experienced support staff (dispatch, mx, ...) and less of this support and horrible safety cultures. Regionals are less safe than mainline and you should be proud of Sully for using his 15 minutes of fame to get out there and try to change things. It'd be better for all of us.

Aren't main liners starting to outsource all/most their mx overseas? On top of that, a lot of regional support staffers were former mainline..but due to base closure or whatnot, got renamed to the regional brand.

And are you also saying all the regional lifers are less safe and less experienced because they didn't fly a wide body across the pond?

No, he's saying that the entire regional sector has worse duty rules and flies longer days with more cycles in an infrastructure that is generally less experienced. The whole sector only exists to back stab other regionals for growth by any means necessary. How many of the last 6 fatal accidents have been regionals? All 6. Is that a coinsidence?

LAZY co-workers who won't get off their fat butts to see why a fax you've tried to send numerous times on numerous days from two different fax locations DON'T go through. It's obviously easier to say, "it's working" when it's clearly NOT.
