I also hate those big old SUVs and the idiots that drive them!” Bingo! I could tell by the Pax’s response I hit a nerve. Pax did drive one of those big old SUVs. Now how did I guess that? I could tell the Pax was peeved by my comment but I felt quite satisfied. I told her to enjoy her flight. Bet that took her mind off of flying on one of those ‘Little Jets.” :D

I'm a pilot and riding on RJs makes me nervous. The pilots are more likely to be fatigued, less experienced, flying a broken airplane, etc.

Agree on all parts except the broken planes. Some Majors carry just as many DMIs as the little guys. Especially Big D and US.

If by Big D, you mean DL, then you must be kidding... this past summer we had a period where only 1 out of 10 airplanes had a single deferral. My experience has been commensurate with that.

When the pilots are dressed like this:

... the mechanics think twice about not fixing something.

Yes I mean Delta, up here in the North it is a little different it seems. Source: multiple rides to work and crews discussing it plus a family member telling me about it quite often. Who knows though. Point is it isnt just at the regional level.

Timbo,

Please don't belittle what we captains do! Bringing class and good looks to the operation is work too. That certain je ne sais quois is what bring people back(i'm sure).

Rolf

I always thought being captain should be like a ship's captain. Supervising other people, yucking it up with the celebrities in First, attending a pre-arrival cocktail party.
