The e190(not sure what airline) D'bag yesterday in Phl who wouldn't give a detailed braking action report. After multiple runway closings and openings between 9L&R and everyone holding people start to go in. Very concise reports (IE: touchdown, midpoint and rollout) from a usair, air whisky, and a couple of departing aircraft this tool was totally unwilling to say anything other than fair to poor at about 1500 ft. Ok, which 1500'? Would help in decision making process as we were getting close on divert fuel. But no, after 2 requests with the same answer, the 3rd request was answered in a douchey tone of "we landed didn't we". Totally unprofessional, still didn't answer the f'ing question. Finally got some reports from departing aircraft as we were inside the marker that were detailed enough. Special thanks to the departing air whisky crew who recommended shutting down 9R after sliding all over on takeoff roll. And to you Mr. E190 may bedbugs keep you awake and infest your home!
And how the hell are departing aircraft able to give braking reports on takeoff? |

It requires a very special kind of tool.... Have a snickers nerd. Omnomnom. :) |
I disagree. Pireps along with recent MU readings are both very important as he was one of the first 3 or so to land( and the only larger aircraft) mixed in with a couple of departures that were all able to give more helpful reports. Also all the other pilot's were able to give accurate reports including which section of the rwy. Again things were changing quickly and he was the last to land ahead of us. He got GOOD reports from the one's that preceded him.
The departing aircraft were not giving BA reports but did give very good rwy reports. 90 degree xwind at about 10 kts too. The last one said that they were sliding all over on takeoff roll especially further down the rwy.

Not sure how much stock you want to invest in other pilots' braking reports. If the guy just landed perhaps he was not all that familiar with PHL and was more preoccupied with taxing rather than issuing pirep braking reports.

As much as I love snickers, I needed a little something stronger last night when I got home.

A certain Chief pilot of a well known regional airline telling the crew he worked for American Airlines yesterday. Cool, didn't work cause we knew who you where.

At the risk of sharing a Part 135 story in the Major section I humbly nominate Canada's favorite son yet again:
Justin Bieber hot boxed a plane so the pilots had to wear oxygen masks Read more at Justin Bieber hot boxed a plane so the pilots had to wear oxygen masks |
Young, healthy-looking, strapping male passenger moaning and whining about how cold the cabin was. It was comfortable, but by no means, cold. (No one else complained.) He was using a blanket, to boot, but it wasn't enough.
Maybe, just maybe.....if you showed up for your flight wearing more than your Hanes undershirt in the middle of February in the Northeast, you wouldn't be freezing. |
Southwest crew departing ROC 2/15/14 at around 5pm local. We were getting deiced and asked for type 4, since it had been snowing for the past 3 hours and it was possible for us getting a lengthy delay going to JFK and our passengers were already delayed. Didn't want to take the chance of having to get deiced again. It Just stopped snowing and they demanded over the radio we "only do type one since there is no precip" and to "actually fly the airplane boys" and not rely on weather reports.
I'll fly my airplane and you fly yours. Last time I checked it was my name on the release next to "CA". Sorry that 5 min of fluid application ruined your day. |
