To address this point about showing credentials. At Alaska airlines, if you are given a seat in the back you do not have to say hello to the crew or captain. I don't mind if you do but I'm not going to ask for your stuff unless your sitting up front. Welcome aboard.

True, but I always like to say Hello to the pilots and the A F/A as a minimum so they know they have a qualified ABP and what seat I was assigned. If the Capt. asks to see credentials for a js/non-rev I have no problem complying.

That's great. I like jump seating on Alaska, friendly crews good food maybe even a digiplayer but they have taken.some of the Captains authority. If CASS is down can you take an OAL guy in the back? I can. On a mx repo ferry flight can you take guys? We can.

A mx repo ferry? Are you calling that one type of flight or did you forget the commas? Because a mx, ferry and repo are all different. And if you've allow non required crew on a mx flight (like a test flight before the plane returns to service) the FAA would probably like to chat with you.

Don't have an answer about CASS being down. I think I recall something about phone calls. As for MX flights, only required crew. I took my son in a repo once. We filed pt. 91 and called it a corporate aircraft. I suppose a Jumpseater could ride if they happened to be around and knew about it.

I agree with the first sentence. They have, no question. As far as CASS goes, all you need is a reciprocal agreement between your company and Alaska. If it exists, it will be on the CSA's screen. They will list you as a non-rev and give you a seat in the back if one is available. You will be the lowest priority of all the non-revs, but what the heck? A seat is a seat.

CASS is only required for the cockpit jumpseat.

It was what I call a mx repo. Airplane broke in outstation. Flight canceled, plane was fixed and then we repoed back with about 10 crew members going to work.

Thanks for Alaska info. I have been denied by the CSA when jacs was down with open seats in back.

Then that's a straight repo if the plane was fixed. A mx ferry requires a ferry permit and may or may not allow non required crewmembers depending on what's broken.
