I nominate whatever "news" outlet that actually spent time on this for Accessory Tool of the Internet.

Think that was bogus?

Totd, goes to an expressjet pilot yesterday who used a deliberate slow southern drawl to prove a point to a fast talking controller. A fast talking controller in Washington center overtop Richmond dealing with some chaos caused by BDL getting shut down and one airplane forgetting to go into their cleared holding pattern.

Someone called the dude a tool over the radio. It was great.

I can speak with a southern drawl with the best of them because I've lived in the south for 20 years, but don't be a tool in busy airspace with a controller working extremely hard.

Is Mr. Chad Tillman, creepy recording man an attorney?? That might explain the level 10.0 on the tool scale.

Pretty sure AA (and probably every other airline) has a policy about filming on board their aircraft and filming their personnel. Glad this guy is keeping us safe, though. Solider on, *******!

First off, I am not a saint when it comes to cell use as a passenger. That said, that pilot is a tool for being so damn obvious about it. Also, really, twitter?

This is one of the many reasons if I can, I change into a plain collared shirt on commutes. The minute I do that I feel like I'm invisible. I can eat without someone staring in my mouth or better yet sending my mug to CNN for the daily news fodder. I will say though that brother man could have at least used a little discretion and SA while in the monkey suit.

Not taking away the toolishness of the videographer, but the pilot in question is not righteous. How hard is it to follow the rules? Which is more toolish? Using the cell phone for texting and tweeting on the takeoff roll - or - the absolute narcisism and conceit of the person who just has to see how he is trending on Twitter RIGHT NOW. I can't wait until touchdown! I have to know now! We are professionals airman. Let's act like it!

Back in the day when cell phones had to be OFF when the door closed, it used to drive me nuts when any crew member in uniform ignored the announcement. How do you expect pax to obey the rules when others around them (who should know better) think they're above it? I had one commuting pilot on one of my regular runs who ALWAYS did it and, of course, I had to be the ***** to ALWAYS tell him to turn it off, as he should know better.
