Did I say I wear a backpack, no I simply stated that UAL in their FOM ALLOWS people to carry a backpack if they so choose. I choose not to because I don't care for the look... Until I can afford to get the smaller flight bag I want I carry a laptop case with the things I need... I also utilize my reimbursements to have my shirts dry cleaned and starched so that they look professional, and have my shoes polished before every trip. Come October 15th I will be donning my hat and coat again as required in my FOM, at my last "regional trash/puke/unprofessional" airline whatever you want to call me I was required to wear the hat year round and did so both as an FO and a Captain.

Flew a segment from ATL to DAL last week with a whole buncha 'Bama fans going to the game. The Captain is an Auburn guy but he had the class to make a PA and wish them all luck...with a "War Eagle" thrown in at the end. We could hear the "boos" and laughter and cheering in the cockpit.
