Oh... it is so odd. I also don't like it.

For those that don't fly Delta, here is the video. 2.6 million views.

Finger wag at 1:52. Comments mostly very positive.

It is suppose to be a little funny, a little flirty, a little naughty... (sex sells people!)
In my humble opinion - some are *overthinking* this issue.
I'd rather my FAs have this type attitude than most I see in real life.

I had to give a real time "thank you" to the Frontier FA who had the courage to tell a mother to get control over her toddler who was running up and down the isle after the seatbelt sign had been turned on during the descent.
A little admonishment for the obvious disregard of the rules and instructions given by the crew goes a long way (e.g. the deafening sound of seat belt buckles being unclasped long before the aircraft comes to a stop at the gate). Yes - we must all RUSH to be the first to stand-up and then wait for 15 minutes for movement!

We all know what it's supposed to be...doesn't mean we have to like it. I'm female, and I know I wouldn't appreciate someone wagging a finger at me---guess it's a man thing.
I also know there are some cranky FAs out there, but in my travels I've found that 99% of the time IF one acts with respect and cordiality (hope that's a word!), you will be treated the same way.

Speaking as someone who spent a few years as an airline CSA, I can't tell you how many times I had people come up to me and preemptively act so unbelievably rude and hostile before a single word was released from my mouth. On a daily basis.

Something tells me that you haven't had to do that job.

What about this doesn't make sense to you?

Dumbing down of America......No one wants to assume personal responsibility.....out of control, frivolous lawsuits. Need I go on?
Why does a seemingly intelligent adult need to be told to remove stuff that's valuable and may help keep them or someone they're traveling with alive? Isn't that just common sense?

Ok, I completely agree with you there. I was still in my defensive former CSA brain mode and thought you were implying that it was sad that such announcements are made due to a risk of theft from airline personnel (not saying that that hasn't happened to pax....)

I was once berated at length by a woman because I didn't know where the gate for some United flight was, even though I was clearly wearing the uniform of a different company at a gate that belonged to said company. Yes ma'am, this is all my fault. I'm so sorry.

Gotcha! I'm a fellow ex-CSA agent as well. I lasted all of a month and a half!
Agree, too, about it all being your fault. It always is!

There needs to be one for FAs as well. Case in point, I was traveling first class on USAir on a full fare ticket. I was in no need to rush and board when first was called and boarded later in the process.

Getting to the cabin, there is a gentleman in my seat. I politely tell him so and he responds with, "I always sit on the aisle." Apparently not in this case because I have the seat. The flight attendant, I assume she though I was an upgrade since I boarded later, tells me to sit in the window seat. I told her I'd rather not, that's why I booked an aisle. She says she doesn't have time to deal with it and I need to sit down. Fine, I just want to go home. During the flight, I order a bloody mary. The FA hands my a cup of ice, the mixer, and vodka. Really??, for $1500 one way you won't even make my drink?

Needless to say I go out of my way to not fly USAir when traveling domestically. Overseas, the FAs bend over backwards for you.

I flew pax for 8 years before freight so I've seen the operational side as well as the consumer side.

And then wait another 30 minutes to pick up one,s luggage at the carousel .
Always amusing to watch people get in a hurry to their seats for a 8-10 hour flight that is,nt departing for another 30-45 minutes.
