You missed the point Tom. There are two careers. One a good job at a major airline and the others is the hellscape that most everyone else gets stuck with.

You bet I would get in line for a good job, but not to sit reserve in a strange city for a dead end regional.

Follow up:

I saw the guy this weekend, and he was doing better. After a long talk, I told him about and showed him this thread. He seemed really touched by the replies and empathy. He has started a diet and exercise, and has lost several pounds (yes, he knows most of it is water, but he is thrilled just the same). He was even trying to chat up a bird (no success, but it was the first time I have seen him try, and I have known him three years, and he didn't get bummed when he struck out).

He truly appreciated the replies and says thanks. Timbo, he felt for you and your buddy. Condolences.

Also, I say thanks. I really wasn't sure what kind of response I would get. He is a decent guy, and I tore me up to see him so down. Thank you for helping me maybe give this guy some hope.

(I always thought this site was just a business blog. I was and am pleasantly surprised by the humane support. Thanks.)
