So we're closing all the contract towers (the ones that save us money) and we're keeping all the costly gubmint towers open. GENIUS.

Does anyone have a list of the contract towers up for closure? I deal with a couple of contract towers in Hawaii. Great group of people that work in them, it would be a shame to see them go.

It's on the FAA's website. One of the guys at work had it pulled up the other day. I'm on a mobile device, so too much work to get the link for ya... Maybe later if I remember.

From the CNN article...

The federal government will close...

From the FAA's .pdf...

ATC Facilities That Could Be Closed

Please note the difference in verbiage. This "administration's" shills in the media are saying "will close", while the FAA says "Could Be Closed".

You can expect a change to that "Could Be" once this "administration's" toadies figure out they are off-message and not coordinated with their media water-carriers.

I'm sure someone has a story about each one of these airports. I myself worked at GKY, Arlington, Tx for a few years. I can't even imagine the headache closing the tower will cause due to the plethora of transient traffic during the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys games. Times that headache by 10 during the playoffs or Super Bowl.

I used to instruct out of New Smyrna which I see made their list. Can't imagine how crazy it would be if you close New Smyrna and Ormond Beach. So many training flights there I could see that getting dangerous really quick.

I'm sure this is also the case for many others on this list. Sure would be nice if Washington would get their act together, but I don't have much hope for that anymore...
