Pria help!!!
I just got offered a new job but currently work for a regional airline. I haven't heard anything for a couple weeks from the new company. Last I heard, they were waiting on my background check. How long do you think it takes to get PRIA records from an airline? Do they usually take all twenty days? Anyone run into this? I'm just freaking out that I haven't heard anything. I sent an email to HR at the new company but never heard anything back. They already gave me a ton of books to study for the new airplane I'll be typed on but no info since then. I'm hoping they are just still waiting on PRIA records.

What type of company is the new job--121, 135, corporate, private? Generic "background" check may NOT be a PRIA check outside 121 ops. I'm not sure PRIA is available outside of 121 airlines. The FAA database can be checked in an hour, but criminal, credit checks take some time, but 20 days without a word sounds long.

I'm just curious, because I took vacation to use up all my sick/ vacation time and have packed up my whole house to move. Not sure why they would change their mind and not tell me. Just hoping they are still waiting on everything!

PRIA specifically applies to Part 121, 125, and 135 operations. Is your sim position within a 121 department?
A company may put you to work before the records come back, for a short period of time. The time records take to come back varies with the previous employer.
Are you sure that this is a PRIA check, or is this a background check that includes your former 121 employer? There's a difference.

Yeah, they can't legally do a "PRIA" check unless they fall into one of the categories which legally requires it. Previous employers would not be legally required to respond, nor would they be legally protected from liability if they did.

The responding companies have a set time limit, something like 30 days but you can look it up on the FAA website.
