Hey guys I have a quick PRIA question. Been at my current 121 company going on seven years. At the end of my first year I busted my recurrent PC (which was obviously 6 years ago). I'm applying for another 121 job currently, will this show up on my PRIA when they request it? Since it wasn't a bust for a license or rating I wasn't sure if it will always be with me or not. Either way I'm reporting it but I'm just curious. Thanks!

 

I think the 5-year window for employer records is still in effect.

FAA records will be reported going back forever (recent colgan-inspired change).

 

As far as I'm aware from speaking with my former HR department, they only report 5-years of records. I'm not sure if this is by law or employer policy though...

 

It's law.

The law recently changed so that FAA records are reported forever, but I don't think that was applied to employer records.

 

Question...isn't a PC failure PRIA reportable? Isn't that considered FAA records?

 

Someone chime in if I am wrong, but it is my understanding that FAA records include LOIs, accidents, incidents and violations. Check rides are not included in this. Airline training records go back only five years, and this is where a busted checkride would show up.

Also, I do remember it was proposed for the FAA to keep these listed items on record "forever", but never did hear a follow up or if it came to fruition. I am sure lawyers were all over that proposal.

If it is also a type ride or ATC ride it would go in the FAA records and thus be reportable forever.

A routine PC should not be part of your FAA records, it's a company event.

 

Actually LOIs, accidents, and incidents are NOT part of PRIA. The FAA specifically states that being involved in one does not automatically mean the pilot screwed up. Open investigations (LOI) are not reported since the outcome is unkown. If you got a violation out of the deal, THAT would go into PRIA. I'm not sure about warnings.

Of course airlines can (and do) use the FOIA to get accident/incident records so I wouldn't lie about them.

Congress told the FAA to keep the info forever, I think they are still working out the deatils of a national database which will also include all employer PRIA info in one place. Will simply PRIA checks and take all of the guesswork out of the process since you should be able to eventually get a printout of ALL your PRIA data from the FAA.

The FAA does not know how they will track checkride failures yet...I think they either discard those pink slips or stuff them all in a shoebox somewhere...sounds like they will have to manually re-create that data.

 

So does that mean if you failed a company event more than 5 years ago you don't have to report it on an application?

 

Depends how the application question is asked. If it asks "have you ever" than yes you do.

PRIA dates 5 years back, which will show your training records (failed PC / Line Check / Type Ride)

If the hiring airline does a "FOIA" check on you, they will get all your 8710 forms (to see if you ever failed a check-ride), copies of your medical certs, copies of all your written tests, etc.
