You're wrong about this.
Claiming bankruptcy will NOT erase federal loans also known as Stafford Loans or Federal Code Title 4 Loans.
It WILL erase a private loan for flight training, etc etc...if your loan was disbursed on or before May 31st, 2005.

It will if the judge will agree to it which is pretty unlikely. You would most likely still have to show substantial hardship and even then it would probably just be restructured and not forgiven.

Ok. So what if I'm rebuilding my credit and employment history due to some lack of discretion in my decision making as a young adult and not so young adult? What do most companies look for? One, two, three years of continuity in terms of employment and ontime pymts?
