Historic 'Flight Check' DC-3 moving to KAMA
The FAA has taken steps to protect an aviation treasure, the Douglas DC-3. On February 13 (Thursday) at 9:30 am, FAA pilots will depart Hangar 9 and fly DC-3, tail number N34 to Amarillo, Texas, landing at the Rick Husband Amarillo Int'l Airport. After landing, the DC-3 will follow taxiway to the Texas Air & Space Museum, where it will shut its engines down one last time. The museum has agreed to store and display the aircraft for the government, in order to make space for a new generation of aircraft.
The DC-3 is listed on the National Register of Historic Places at: www.nps.gov/nr
