Just to show you, once again, how far our government has [Expletive Deleted] our country, the Indianapolis 500 just finished the Star Spangled Banner sung quite well by Leann Rimes and then guess what?, a flyover by L-39s!! ***, we can't even get our own military to do a fly over? Please, don't B.S. me about budget restraints and such when we always have the money for D.C. and their crap projects/initiatives/wars and so on.

My son's Jr. High graduation won't get one either, nor will our local 4th of July parade. Clearly our country is going down the tubes!
Why do a bunch of privileged-class millionaires that can only turn left rate? Please complete section 5 of DD2535 for us:

Military air show participation and event flyovers should only be performed where there is a clear advantage to the tax-payers. Sometimes it's worth it for the recruiting bang-for-buck alone.
But in the current climate of downsizing, good retention, and budget austerity I don't think it's worth it in most cases.
Frankly it's tough to justify the flight demo teams right now. Maybe they need to combine them into one. If we ever actually go to all F-35's, I can't see how they'll afford a squadron for a demo team.

Even if the Services are fully staffed today, that might not be the case a few years from now, and a certain lead time is required to obtain good recruits. Getting kids interested in joining the military, especially UPT, has to be done while they are still able to make the right educational and lifestyle choices. Today's air demo pilots inspire the next generation, and we might be thankful they did.

My guess is they are not too worried about it or they would have Blue Angels or Thunderbirds at every public game. Too bad it is at such a low now, it sure was an admired thing when I was a kid. Times change! I guess the admired thing now must be FBI or CIA agent. Come to think of it, astronaut was a big deal in prior decades but has lost ground as well.

In Remembrance...
Just a sobering reminder this Memorial Day of the price that has been paid over the last 12 plus years.
