Default Engine failure mid air

Hi

Second training video was shutting down an engine mid air on the Boeing 737-800 to simulate an engine failure. It was a good landing and I really did not want to do a go around on one engine. The video is a you tube video made using iMovie.

Why didn't you want to go around on one engine?

That's why the put two engines on them, and that's what separates the men from the boys!

BTW, that's exactly what sims are for too...

On every check ride you take in a multi engine aircraft you have to do a go around with an engine out as well as a landing. Not a big deal.

We do it every year during AQP, thought is was a required event, but could be wrong.

It's pretty much the central part of our (the Navy's) multi engine training - shoot a single engine approach down to mins and execute a missed. Worst case scenario.

Good training.
