Stop lamenting about the so called good old days when the pilot aura made it easier for the ego to be stroked. Flight attendants are not there to be ogled like some stag party...that is the same kind of attitude that makes it easier to view women as things and not people and eventually permits some men in society to be Ray Rice or Ray McDonald. (Yes I know about Hope Solo but lets look at the percentages here)

Fact is the airplane doesn't know what a pilot looks like or who they voted for. Its not going to get there any faster or safer with a good looking, tall square-jawed pilot than it will someone with someone the OP characterizes as having a lesser appearance.

How about we strive for a safe, competent and professional pilot corps first. If some want to hold a beauty pageant...go fly for Donald Trump.
Let's see...coming from the guy who wears fighter pilot "aviators" complete with the cocky attitude, hand flies with no FD even on long legs, and throws his chest so far out in front of him he's practically falling over...you might want to stay out of this. You are all about the image and you know it.

It's cool, you are a great stick, but probably not the thread to be preaching in. Just sayin'.

Binksy that's 90 seconds you will never get back !
Breathing just fine here...problem was it was poorly executed humor and sarcasm. And I also wear flat front pants.

If the post was sarcastic it is still worth pointing out that it is time for pilots to address some fundamental attitudes that exist in this industry.
I thought this was a forum to discuss ideas.

When's the last time you saw a good looking FA? This industry has lowered their standards for pilots and FA's. I've been involved in this industry since TWA in the 70's.

I've hired a lot of folks, in several industries. Personal appearance does reflect something about the person's attitudes. It is particularly relevant to pilots...

Decades ago it was OK to be an overweight chain smoker and have three martinis with lunch. But today everybody knows that's bad for you. An out-of-shape pilot HAS to know that he's risking his medical and therefore his livelihood. If he has so little self-discipline (or concern) for his own health, well-being, and career how am I going to rely on him to be disciplined enough to do the job I need him to do?
