Two retired airline pilots were the reference folks in this article about ATC duties. I can just imagine the abundance of comments in this thread if the article had been entitled; “Five Myths about Airline Pilots” and the experts referred to were retired Controllers. Of course the insight would be priceless!

I figure the reporter writing this fluff article was more concerned with using a person with name recognition and star power (enter Sully) vs. the unknown actual working ATC professional. Name recognition and star power trumps all once again. I know, I know...that’s the way the system works.

Newspapers are in the advertising business, not the "most accurate information possible" business. Sully gets website clicks...at least he represents the profession better than most of us could.

I actually thought it was pretty good. Sure, it's a bit loose with numbers, but works well for a broad and unfamiliar audience. Don't believe anything you read about NextGen.
