Small Jet Crashes In California
Updated: 19:27, Friday January 12, 2007

A small business jet crashed while taking off from Van Nuys Airport in California.

The wreckage of the plane has been seen smoldering in a field near the San Fernando Valley airport.

The Cessna Citation twin-engine crashed as it was leaving the airport in the Los Angeles suburbs, Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor said.

It was heading to Long Beach, about 25 miles south of Los Angeles.

Depending on the model, a Citation can hold four to eight passengers, plus two pilots.

I am a flight instructor at KVNY and yes Citation did crash. I was doing a preflight with student at time of this A/C Taking Off. Company is Sun Quest Aviation (135 Charter outfit). And I was scheduled to have an interview next week (On Friday)! The company founder and owner was PIC.
