Have you checked out ace hardware, they have some great flashlights for reasonable prices.

Got one from Advance Auto, about $5.00.

Incredible beam of light, small (about 4-5 inches long)....I keep it on a lanyard in my flight bag. WAY more reliable than the 2 x D-cell Maglite we used to have to carry, and a better beam for illuminating the tail or gear wells at night.

Only disadvantage: uses three AAA batteries. Works great for about 2 months, then dies rapidly.

I keep three spare batteries in the bag.

It comes with a charging cable. The connection is circular (like a laptop power connection) and plugs into the flashlight.

One time when I forget to grab the flashlight, I used the iPhone flashlight. Kind of surprised me what that little LED can do on something slightly larger than a C-172

Yes, Streamlight has surprisingly high quality, but it's usually expensive. The Fenix flashlight is cost-effective and suitable as a replacement for Streamlight. I have been using it as a duty light, it has become my main flashlight from a backup light, a small but easy to manage super bright light. It works flawlessly every day after rough finishing and access to the service belt.
