As the only competitor interisland it makes sense to compare load factors regardless of seat capacity. The 737 max is definitely not the right aircraft for the market.

Most of the time when I operate a flight from the mainland, we land somewhere with enough fuel to operate two or three legs without fueling. I literally did this last week. Flew in with one inter-island leg on the back side. Came into work the next day, and to my surprise, it was the same plane with the same fuel we landed with for another inter island flight and enough for another after that. I’m not arguing it’s the best plane for the market, but somehow AW is making it work.

Sorry Fanboys. It's not you guys hurting us. Our planes to the mainland and II are mostly full. The blame lies in our 93 year old business plan that focuses on Japan being the center of the universe. Someone failed astronomy. Japan is still being relatively draconian with Covid restrictions. THAT is what's hurting us. It's the basket that most of our eggs are in. So, until Japan opens up FULLY and/or our holding company decides to modernize our business plan, that's the way it's going to be. It's simple math.

You guys really are a legend in your own mind.

They clearly live in Hawaii, while their Taxes live in Vegas. Why else are they so intent on their insignificant inter-island operation :-)

And spot on, profitability returns with Japan. High yield

Bit of irony...

The girl in one of Hawaiians promotional video's to attract applicants is now at-------------------------Southwest.

SWA had better science.

For those who actually looking at the thread title another vacancy bid closing in January. 26CA/18FO 787…28CA 330/ 330 FO freight dawgs. Plenty of movement and upgrades coming down the pipe.
sorry sw fan bois no widebody upgrades for you! Have fun on that Omaha overnight I hear the steak is worth it.

also get plenty 717 captain spots so anyone who wants to upgrade within less than a year.

Perhaps Hawaiian should try and do Bengals charters?

Nice to see my airline and I living rent free in your head.

We're hiring. Odds are you could be a street Captain on the 717, or even a 330F Captain after a quick year or two. Come on... You KNOW you'd love it. I'll buy dinner on the overnight.

What's the over/under on seniority of 330F CA/FO?

I wonder how many SEA/LAS/PHX current 330CA may make the move?

Bengal charters is actually not a terrible idea.

Do you actually fly airplanes? Say this again slowly.

You're saying wasting fuel is somehow a good thing?

don’t worry they’re still learning that when Oakland Center goes down and there’s a ground stop on all ETOPS flights it also applies to them even though their dispatch says they are good to go. Because, you know, they are southwest. (Yes, this is something that happened and I heard the entire conversation with Lihue Ground control)
