I'm betting AS will take a look at pros and cons and make an informed decision that is best for training and the bottom line.

still don’t think it’ll come down to it… European destinations, shorter commute, newer airframe, probably 100+ West Coast commuters.

Bid is almost closed and I haven’t heard of hardly anyone wanting SEA 787. This will be interesting to see

Exploring Hawaiian as a possibility but the commute from Kentucky to either Hawaii or Seattle is daunting. What aircraft have pilot bases in Cincinnati and is it realistic to hope to get based there as a new hire or within a year or so?

A330 freighter. Not sure when you can get it.

There aren't any open positions on it right now, that could change with the vacancy bid that closes today. Regardless, if you get A330 in new hire class you might be able to hold it in a year, if you get assigned any other aircraft you will be seat locked for up to 2 and a half years before you can bid off on the next published vacancy bid, in which case it could be realistically 3+ years before you actually get Cincinnati(if Alaska decides to keep the Amazon contract). If you come to Hawaiian expect to commute to Honolulu for over 3 years, people that come here expecting that have a much better time than people who "hope" they get something else.

Thanks so much for the reality check. I figured it would be a long shot but worth looking at.

If you’re not willing to commute to the west coast or Hawaii, I’d be very careful seeking employment here based on the assumption of a Cincinnati based for Amazon flying. The company has been signaling in ground schools that they are less than thrilled with the Amazon contract. I wouldn’t plan on it lasting beyond the duration of the current contract and could very well be canceled early.

i come bearing good news. 3 new hires were just awarded the 330 freighter yesterday. They were awarded to middle seniority of the class. So there’s always a chance. 7 330pax awards too.

if you are awarded the a330pax, you can transfer to the freight at any time we have a vacancy bid. We’ve been running one once every 3 months or so.

I know a 330 pax guy that was awarded freight after only being here for two weeks.

as far as them keeping the Amazon flying, I think it’s entirely plausible. On our end we’ve been told that Alaska is interested in continuing the contract they just want to renegotiate the terms, and specifically told us that they would want exactly 20 more 330Fs in order to make it more worth it for us.

If it plays out that way, then I’d imagine there would be plentiful opportunities to be awarded the freight.

Alaska pilots HATE the idea of our Amazon contract so they’re all just pushing wishful thinking hoping to manifest AAG ending the contract.

As Ptolem, stated, 3 were awarded freight because yes, there were three spots on the last bid 25-02A. So good news for who got it. Lots of opportunity going forward.
