I know it hurts your feelings but 1 net greater airframe also equated to 100s of more seats across the network.

But ya, I’m sure you were at the Refresh events in San Francisco super upbeat about your opportunity to be a captain at Virgin Galactic by 2025. I’m sure Cush and Forte had 787s and 330s on the horizon to fly from SF to Heathrow and Sydney and you would’ve been top 20% as a captain in JFK. Alas, Alaska came in and squandered your dreams of that. You remind every FO you fly with about that down in LA.
He's a NYC Capt? That's sad. We had a good group there while it lasted. CAs in NYC had a good deal. But for FOs, that base was a dead end. Zero movement. Where we were when we got in that base, is where we were stuck. Any CA that bid west coast or retired from NY (literally like one per year) was replaced by some uber-senior CA from the west coast who wanted east. It didn't take long to figure out that NYC was a career dead end for a FO. I enjoyed my time, wouldn't have traded it for anything, but closing NYC meant CA on the west coast.

Most of the east coast guys who weren’t 50+ left or accepted their fate. They’re already at UA, AA or Delta sitting happy in Charlotte, JFK or anywhere east of Dallas. Guys like him will forever be at Alaska, upset that Alaska f*ing airlines, that is and has always been predominantly west coast and has now bought a Hawaiian airline that has wide bodies over the Pacific, is “too dumb” to make his commute to Newark easier.

No worries. There’s about 40 posters out of the entire group at Alaska, and 7 of them will just continuously tell you to leave to PanAm

AS ain't perfect, and hopefully we freeze off some of the warts with the upcoming (DOJ pending) JCBA. However, one thing I've come to really appreciate in my time here at AS, is the relaxed crews. We're a pretty chill group of guys n gals. In almost a decade flying here, there's maybe 1 pilot I wouldn't happily fly with again, and to be honest, I think he got fired a while back. I'm really happy that AS and HA are combining for a number of reasons, but an important one is I think it will reinforce that crew dynamic which makes leaving home for 4 days much easier.

Like some have said, this forum has some informational value but also its fair share of toxicity. Unfortunately, like all social media platforms, the same few people yell at each other. By design, social media pushes tribal instincts (hello politics!). Unfortunately it is also not emotionally healthy for those pilots. We should use social media to inform each other NOT build walls (hello politics again). For those few who keep coming here to argue with a few anonymous people . Do yourself a favor. Invest your time in healthier activities : exercise, read, spend time with family and friends, volunteer.

In short, they do not represent the Alaska pilots at large. Welcome aboard our soon to be merged airline. Let’s work together.

Finally looked at a route map. All you do in asia is S Korea and Japan, that's not some extensive operation.

That's not very much. No Beijing, HK, Manila, Taipei, etc?
