Do any of you have any experience living on the East Coast and working at Hawaiian?

My Family is pretty tied down in Maryland/Virginia so moving is unlikely.

I may have a bit of a remedy as I do own a few properties up and down the East Coast that I AIRBNB out. If I land a West Coast/Pacific career I could potentially acquire something over there (California/Hawaii) which might help some.

That being said I'd prefer to spend my time with my Family on the East Coast. I'm just trying to get an idea of how any of you managed this, if at all.

Thanks

Anyone have any insight into what competitive hiring minimums are presently at HAL?

Roughly 9 pilots live on East Coast... 18 total live East of Colorado...

As a junior guy at the downside of our current growth, without the ability to group trips together, reserve would be your best bet to maximize time at home.

East Coast is tough unless you are senior on equipment or have non-stop direct service... ( or have a permanent setup in Hawaii to make it less like living in a crash pad)

This is just my opinion...

I think you’d be crazy to do it. I get the love of HAL...I interviewed there, had a great interview, but was unfortunately not selected. We were going to move to Hawaii if I got the job, but after a year of commuting from the west coast. I was expecting a very tough year with little family time. The idea of commuting to HNL from the east coast I think is setting yourself up to be miserable. I’m sure a few special folks can do that, but you have a bunch of options for airlines with east coast bases. Again, just my $.02

What you all think about visiting headquarters before the interview. Would be pretty cool to visit before the interview date to maybe manage the shock factor on interview day. Can or no Can?

Only if you know someone there that can show you around. Otherwise, who is going to take the time out of their day to escort you in? That seems a little awkward to me...
