And if you do, don't tell us, "Thanks but it was really competitive this time around."

As for me, I don't really care. I just feel bad for all these local guys/gals with lots of experience flying here and elsewhere that don't get on.
You've got nearly the same qualifications as me. I can see how you would be discouraged but I wouldn't let that stop you.
Just because your "Hawaiian" doesn't mean they have to hire you though.
If I lived in SFO I wouldn't expect united hire me based on where I'm from.
I've known people with great attitudes, checked all the boxes, and didn't pass interviews for big jobs. In the end its all just a crapshoot and mostly luck of the draw. Best of luck

Yeah, but Hawaii is really an exception.

I fly with guys all the time who had way WAY less on the resume than 'flyinHawaiian' has, but got hired because they knew the right people. That is how hiring in hawaii happens in general. "Get used to it, brah" (sic). If you look at hiring from the last couple years, Hawaiian prefers strong ties to the islands. United has bases all over the country, HA has a single base in a very unique city with a very loyal draw.

Good luck in the future flyinHawaiian. 2017 will be here quickly, and HAL is going to be hurting for pilots who are willing to work at a discount to the legacy airlines while having a single base in one of the most expensive cities in the country.

I know a few people at Hawaiian and I would tend to agreee that a lot of it is in who you know. A friend of mine got hired there with zero PIC turbine and only about a year at the regional level. However, my friend had family on the inside, flying no less.

There are a few new hires in their young 20's. How much experience can you really have at 23 years old? But hey, if you know someone on the inside, you'd be a fool not to take advantage of that. Good for them.

This is what worries me. We are negotiating to catch up with the other legacies LAST contract. Hawaiian is way behind the economic times compensation wise and you are based in one of the most expensive locals in the world. So many good things about Hawaiian, but that doesn't justify being paid less.

I've applied 7-8 times and interviewed 3 times total (Phase 1+2, phase 1 again, and now phase 1 again for the 3rd time).

So you're on your third interview with 4,200 TT, 400 TPIC.
What was your TT and TPIC at the first interview?
The second interview?

You said you didn't think you really had a shot this time. If that's true how did you feel about getting the first and second interview when you were less deserving of the opportunity? You went but now you're complaining about the other less qualified candidates who went and got hired??

flyinhawaiian... you are not alone in what you have gone through.... almost all the guy/girls that got hired since 2009 interviewed multiple times... it took me 3 times... i knew some pilots but no family working there... i just netwrked hard and stayed consistent... i went into the CPs office every other month... sqeaky wheel... lots of other did the same... they only just hired to #2 seniority captains kid after not even interviewing him last year... and his son has been paying his dues on the mainland at aregional after having served in the army...
they go for a pretty big demographic but ultimately they want locals who are not going to leave in the near future...
i wouldn't give up if this is what you want... jumpseat on us and talk to the crew... make friends and network... bug the CP every chance you can... $hit you went to kamehaha and your telling me you can't network to get a job here?
