Default Low Time, High Desire

Hey there everyone,
I've heard that anyone with a pulse can get hired right now and I'm that guy! I really do have low time and even lower funds available thanks to the University I went to. I have been burnt by the lack of desire and motivation our flight instructors press upon others and would not like to spend the $6000 to join their ranks. So my question to the community is where does a fresh graduate with 200TT and only 8 Multi go for his first job? What companies will take a chance at someone with low hours, but a positive work ethic and attitude? I really don't care where I have to go. I love the thought of going anywhere if I can be paid enough to support my $800 a month student loan payment!!

Easy, the U.S. military if you can get a pilot slot.

If you went to WMU get over to the detroit area and look for flight schools, I started out there myself, instruct and theres plenty of places that are hiring out there once you meet their mins. I was busy as hell out there for a while instructing about 2 years ago and my friends that are still in the area say they havent had much of a student decline at all.

Unless you wanna join the military I imagine wherever you go that your salary is going to be pretty low for a while as you build your initial experience.

$800 a month student loan payment????? Do people do math anymore or do they just dive head-first into Aviation without a calculator? Doctors have problems paying those kind of loans after Med School, Doctors!!!!

Ya dude, If you're willing, go with a military pilot slot. I had 200 hours when I went in...and made twice as much as a Regional FO in my first year in the Air Force...not to mention, saying "Heavy" at the end of your callsign at 400 hours is pretty cool too. And if you drive pointy-nosed jets like Slice...forget the "Heavy," you get to blow stuff up.

I just don't see how you're gonna avoid bankruptcy in the Regionals without living with your mom.

You could get a wife to support you.

At Eagle I bring home about $300 a week, 1st year pay.

There aren't any other regionals who pay signifigantly better.

But PSA will interview, and maybe hire you with your times. Its a crappy place to work. But I can't think of anyplace more reputable who would look at you with your current times.

Default nice idea on the wife

Thanks rob for the suggestion.
I'm recently engaged and she is supporting me
QOL doesn't bother me. I'll go 20 min on call 7 days a week if I have to! Thanks for your input guys and keep it coming.

Military... I've got bad eyes so I can't be Maverick, and it's ten years min. sign time from when you are assigned your slot, which means I'd be wasting almost 2 years in boot and officer school. Not really my cup of tea. But an option nonetheless

Hey Rob, could you inform us on why PSA is such a Turd Ball? Are they interviewing folks but they have some internal min that they will not hire folks under at? Why is PSA not regarded by you as a good regional?

USA Jet Airlines, at YIP. They just hired a guy at 234 hours. They don't care if you do not have a 4 year degree and low multi-time. You start out in the Falcon 20 at $52.00 hr (thats starting pay) with upgrade to the DC-9 in 9 months! PM me for more info.
