I got hired with about that time towing banners. Best first job you could ever have - if you get on with the right operation. Tons of XC time, great pay, good experience.

Are you sure???

61.129 (b) (3) (II) and Appendix D 141 (4) (b) (2) (II) both require 10 hours in a multi for a Commercial Multi rating. Maybe I'm missing something, but could you clarify?

61.129 (b) (3) (II) is in regards to the initial commercial rating in a multi engine aircraft. Not an add-on rating.

But there is a lot of grey area in any FAR.

It may be that way if it is an initial multi commercial cert, but I did mine as an add-on. Ill have to do some research on that but the FAA had no problem with me claiming 7 hours ME on my 8710-1 right before the checkride.

EDIT: ok, did some research, looks like if you already have a commercial SE cert and want to get a Multi add-on, the add-on falls under FAR 61.63 (C):

(c) Additional class rating. Any person who applies for an additional class rating to be added on a pilot certificate:

(1) Must have an endorsement in his or her logbook or training record from an authorized instructor and that endorsement must attest that the applicant has been found competent in the aeronautical knowledge areas appropriate to the pilot certificate for the aircraft class rating sought;

(2) Must have an endorsement in his or her logbook or training record from an authorized instructor, and that endorsement must attest that the applicant has been found proficient in the areas of operation appropriate to the pilot certificate for the aircraft class rating sought;

(3) Must pass the required practical test that is appropriate to the pilot certificate for the aircraft class rating sought;

(4) Need not meet the specified training time requirements prescribed by this part that apply to the pilot certificate for the aircraft class rating sought unless the person holds a lighter-than-air category rating with a balloon class rating and is seeking an airship class rating and

(5) Need not take an additional knowledge test, provided the applicant holds an airplane, rotorcraft, powered-lift, or airship rating at that pilot certificate level.

So no minimum hour requirements UNLESS you get your Commercial MEL as the Initial commercial, not as the add-on, only then would the 10 hour rule apply.

I've heard that anyone with a pulse can get hired right now and I'm that guy! ... So my question to the community is where does a fresh graduate with 200TT and only 8 Multi go for his first job? What companies will take a chance at someone with low hours, but a positive work ethic and attitude?

Hey WMU, Go to
http://airlinepilotcentral.com/resou...070412222.html.

This is a great forum. They've posted the hiring mins for 15 regionals and you're in luck, you already meet the mins for PSA. I don't have a clue who they are, where they're based, or what they fly. The lowest mins are PSA which requires a Comm + MEL rating, then TSA (Trans States I believe) 250 total / 25 MEL. If I were in your shoes I'd send them my stuff and go get a job towing banners at the beach. While you're waiting to get that first airline job you'd be building time while enjoying some of the best flying that you'll ever do. Trust me, I fly heavies for UPS all over the world and I guarantee you that you'll have more fun looking at the beach and the bikinis than you'll ever have going from KIX to ANC.

Never forget, it's the journey, not the destination. Good luck.

Got my multi with 8.2 hours. So you can do it with less than 10.

You should be able to find a job at a local DZ or somewhere towing banners. Maybe look into aerial survey, there a few places in NY for that. When I was flight instructing (circa 2004/05) to do any one of those jobs you pretty much needed 500 TT and pretty much 1000TT/100 multi to get on with the regionals. But with the regionals hiring anyone that still can breathe, that should come down a bit. Go and get some more total and multi and then apply to the regionls or places like Airnet.

As far as the military goes it wont take you 2 years to get through "boot and OCS." You would got to OTS which is 16 weeks and then to UPT. Your 10 years starts when you get winged (graduate UPT). But if you look into the guard/reserve that is only part time. They are accpeting PRK (refractive error between -8.00 and +.50) and I think LASIK just got approved also (check the medical section on baseoos.net).

Try a blue collar aviation career...
Aerial Survey Pilot: 40 hrs a week flying a fleet of 13 aircraft around the country just you and a photographer. More stable than any airline job and more rewarding too. They will work with low time pilots in the single engine or in a photographer slot to build multi for insurance reasons.
Pay starts between $25,000 and 35,000 depending on experience.

I know of an opening now if anyone is interested.

So my question to the community is where does a fresh graduate with 200TT and only 8 Multi go for his first job? I love the thought of going anywhere if I can be paid enough to support my $800 a month student loan payment!!
