Oh yes! Not only will it count against you but it will turn your toenails black and make your hair fall out! I'd be worried if I were you.
Just joking. That happens all the time and that wont count against you. I'm sure they understand that you have a life and things come up sometimes.

Would the same reasoning apply for delaying a class date? i.e. can't start for apx. a month to give to weeks notice and relocate. I have had some friends get class dates within a week or two of an interview?

In this day and age, there is no guarantee of that next interview or class date.
Not to sound negative, but if you want the job, a bird in the hand... as the old saying goes.
Some prospective employers may gauge a person's interest by the effort they take to make the interview when offered.
Many companies hire to fill an immediate need. Maybe the need will be there for a while, but then again, maybe not.
"Ya pays your money and ya takes your chances!"
Just my $.02.

I know of a few people that got offered a class to start Monday after a Friday interview. I turned down the first class date they offered (emphasis on 'first' not 'date') because it was too short notice. If they offer you the job, they will let you pick a class date- assuming they have future classes planned. They realize that most people cannot start right away. Good luck.
