For the 10 (possibly 12) MD11s, staffed at a 13:1 ratio (typical), that's over 130 CREWS, and we've never trained more that 70 in a year (and that included renting sim time in LGB).
Oh yeah, that's right, we're getting three 747-400s next summer, and that will churn the MD11 list for another 30 crews. ****?
At our Appendix H meeting this week, THE PEOPLE IN CHARGE of MD11 training COULD NOT explain the plan, or how it will affect the line sim and IOE instructors. The woman in CHARGE of pilot staffing DID NOT SHOW UP for her scheduled 9am briefing (no explanation given). We were told that in order to reach this apparent target, it's obvious we'd have to redouble our efforts.
I guess once we get the jets converted, we'll just park them in the desert again......
Thank goodness I just fly, and don't manage this mess.
Talk about a ship without a rudder, and you'd be talking about big BROWN.

PS. Did I mention that most of the MD11 instructors and MD11 manglement pilots are out flying the line because we're SHORT CAPTAINS right now!
We need to hire at least 300 pilots starting last month.

This is what happens when Art. 13 is written by a Domestic 727 Pilot. What did everyone think? Wake up! The productivity gains for UPS are huge. Just read it at the website. But there is a big if, it's all going colapse in UPS's face if they dont get a signed TA by Dec.
