It's things like that, that make me absolutely furious. Our government will help worthless slobs til the end of the world but some people work hard and live as responsible adults and still can't get jack. That seems about right. And yet we keep reelecting these people...

I know it made me furious too. Especially when my husband drives a 94 Ford Taurus and I drive a 01 Dodge Caravan. (Both paid off) Then you pull in to the parking lot of the Medicaid office and see Cadillacs and new cars that you know have at least a $400 car payment each month. I guess if I go take the savings and buy a new car they might accept me into medicaid. LOL!

What about putting the money in a trust. 100% legal. My parents did that with their company (self-employed). With the purpose you described it would make sense too. Also it would keep your children from getting screwed in the event something bad happened.
