I didn't know this when I was figuring times for my ATP - and I was confused and had heard both so I went the safe way and only included time where I landed further than 50 nm away (meaning I did T&Gs at China Lake alot ), but since then I have learned from this site that any distance further than 50 nm will work for you - so almost all of those hours except FCLP and those flights in the darn overhead MOA at Lemoore counts

The search continues and the daily life/license gamble of CFI-ing continues...

Okay boys and girls. Simply, AFTER you have your Commercial, any flight more than 50nm from departure point, whether you land or not, counts toward the X/C time required for the ATP. I audited my logbook just for this way back when I went for my ATP (1992). Back then the FAA checked EVERY page to make sure all the requirements were met, especially if you were close to the minimums. I was able (if I remember, I'm old now) to add like about 65 hours to my X/C totals which brought me over the top. Nuf sed!

Furloughed NetJets guy with over 5500 hours, current 1st class medical, no problems on any training or checkrides, 2 types. They have no interest in me. Probably the NetJets furlough thing...

It's the "golden noose" of aviation. They know that you'll go back to NetJets when you're called back.

Got the no thanks letter. I am a furloughed frac pilot 5000 hours atp cfii,ii,mei typed in CRJ and 3 business jets. I couldnt have afforded to take the job anyway. Unemployment pays a little more. I guess they are not interested in furloughed pilots.

anyone know what " Proficiency check in a simulator two times per year with recurrent ground school training. " means?

It's a bullet point under qualifications

Do you have to have a job to get a job there?
