Well that's not so bad then, as an FO in Anchorage. Personally, I'd be reluctant to spend that much time in the bush, full time, flying a Cherokee 6 or whatever. Era or Frontier (the Alaskan version) with the 2 week on 2 off schedule seems much more accomodating to those who still need that dose of civilization every couple weeks to stay moderately sane. I know the Era guys in Bethel get around 120 hours in those two weeks they work, too. Just things to think about when considering Alaska for employment.

hows that legally possible?
How's it not? Part 135 regs: A two pilot crew can fly ten hours a day. They work 7 days a week when they are out in the Bush, like pretty much every other operator.
Sorry, I didn't state they use Twin Otters with 2 pilots. My bad.

By the way (an others on here can correct me on this) but I guess that Pen Air pilots in King Salmon or Dillingham aren't there full time, but supposed to have a 20 on and 10 days off schedule, although in the summer it doesn't quite work out that well for them. Still, you Pen pilots love that company and that has to say something.

Alaska flyers enjoy special exceptions from time to time. If you get time, take a minute to search the pdf fars for 'alaska' and you'll find all kinds of 'specials' from maintenance to flight rules.

Yeah, even gross weight exceptions in certain circumstances. No, I believe 135 guys can fly up to 500 hours in any quarter, 800 in any two consecutive quarters, and 1400 hours in a year. Nothing about a week in the regs.
