DAL invites going out
#251
I was not an ASA pilot but given the shear number of them hired in the last go around and given that they are not bound to a flow through program and can be hired on merit out of seniority order then I'd say they're not missing out. The winner is, or ought to be CPZ because it's only fair given they'd be the big losers if we furlough.

I'm intrigued. so why would someone wait to flow over applying because if you apply and get hired then you're more senior but if you don't you get hired anyways and are in the same boast as you were before?

Yeah. We got the word from our Union MEC that it is in the flowthru language that we can apply outside the flowthru and get hired out of seniority. Of course the catch is you have to go through the entire interview process unlike flowthru pilots. I think DAL wants to allow eligible pilots the opportunity to get hired and not have to wait 3 to 5years waiting in line.

Not sure but I think over 1500 TPIC is the trigger right now.

I haven't heard of any Mesaba pilot yet getting called outside of the flow. I've been told after we reach the flow limit then they will start calling XJ pilots for interviews outside the flow, same with compass.

Taylor,
I would imagine you're just a bit below competitive mins right now. Still, Delta tends to look at the "total package" and not just the flight times. (Though they may have a minimum threshold to get over to be considered for an invite.) You might have something else on your resume that makes you stand out as a good potential candidate. The only way to know is to keep updating and hope for the best.
DO keep updating, though. I have heard from several people that attended job fairs and heard Delta recruiters giving tips last time around that updating on a fairly regular basis DOES help flag you in the computer system. I shows that the info they have on you is recent, and that you are interested in working for Delta, and didn't just fill out an app 'cause you needed a job and they happened to be hirring. Updating once a month or two, or once every 100 flights hours is a good benchmark. Even if you're not flying much, its still a good idea to go in every few months and change something minor - just show your app shows a recent update.
And with the magazine, I think you need to pick up both, then offer the choice to the guy next to you. (This shows you know your role as an FO is to let the Captain have first choice!) Just make sure you kindly ask him if you can have the cheerleader magazine when he's finished.
And it can be spelled HOGS or HAWGS! Oh, I'm sorry - did you say dogs?

That's because first class for August will be filled by DAL furlough bypass people and the second August class will be filled by mostly flowthru pilots from XJ and CZ. But if hiring continues like DAL said into 2011, people will get called outside the flowthru because flowthru cannot fill all the slots if they hire 60 or more per month as they are saying now.

You I guess that means don't call and put yourself on report? Just keep updating the app and crossing the fingers!
