The recession is over
I went out for happy hour tonight and couldn't find a parking spot, first time in 2 years. On Wednesday my wife's restaraunt had it's busiest lunch ever - companay Christmas parties (Boeing, etc). It is only a matter of time before increased business and personal spending trickle down to more demand for pilots. IMHO.

A Christmas party and people drinking during happy hour during the holidays is not necessarily a leading economic indicator. The fact that taxes won't increase in two weeks is great news and should help move things along.

Yes, the recession was over for me in August when I finally got a full time aviation job that paid and had benefits. My getting hired was only indirectly related to the recession. I could only get hired when people left. However, because the economy picked up and airlines started hiring, they left and I got to fill their shoes.

Heard from a pilot that had 3 calls to interview in 2 days.
He is one of the ones that, like me, when he goes to a class, will pull 10/20/30+ resumes off the market. The numbers of "resumes on file" do not reflect how many pilots are looking for a job. I was called by two headhunters my first week in groundschool at my new job.
