Colgan/Mesaba 2/28 Class

This would be original if it were not coming from an express jet FO. It has been said before, many times over. The express jet/colgan debate has been going strong for a few years now.
So we can avoid your post being construed as pure flamebait I would be open to hear your thoughts on a few subjects.
-What have you specifically done to improve this industry other than getting hired at express jet under a contract that was negotiated prior to your arrival?
-Under the Pinnacle/Colgan/Mesaba new JCBA, which points in particular do you feel bring down the industry as a whole?
Just trying to keep this on topic since the Colgan bottom feeder comments are as common place as the PFT threads and go jet inquiries. Id be interested in hearing your points.

I've looked at the XJET and ASA contracts and I like some of the provisions in each. Combine the 2 and we are talking a pretty decent contract.
Either one by itself is not better than the one we just voted in. As good maybe, but not better.

It has been many months since I heard that.
We made improvements, not earth shattering, but improvements none the less...... what have YOU, in your many weeks in the industry, done for for all of us?

Easy on our expressjet brothers (and sisters). Let's not forget the hard work and dedication they put in to help us vote in ALPA. Many folks from their pilot group used their time off to answer questions and provide support to us during that critical period.

You guys didn't only create a 'B' scale, you created a 'C' scale with every plane getting different pay. Pay should not be based on number of seats at the regional level, or at any level for that matter.
A 'B' scale at the regional level. That's not just racing to the bottom...that's tying a block of concrete to your foot and jumping into the ocean.

Good luck with that.

As a Mesaba furlough, that will probably get an offer to come to Colgan or Pinnacle, I have a quick question.
What are the junior bases for Colgan? If I agree to come on board to Colgan where whould I get based? It looks like IAH would be the best for commuting to me, but I don't know my chances at getting based there. It's a big part of the decision as to whether I come to Colgan or choose Pinnacle....or decline all together.
Any info would be great. Thanks.

Sooo...when jobless you would have gone to Colgan and tied a concrete block to your foot and beat everyone to the bottom, but now that they signed a contract THAT SAVED YOUR *SS and will give you your longevity back at mesaba you knock them for it. That is classy right there.... and we wonder why nobody on the outside has any respect for pilots anymore...
Probably not an XJ furlough at all.

To answer your question.
No. I would not have gone to Colgan. Instead I decided not to go to a company that treats it's pilots poorly, and I have been working a desk job because I have what I think are high standards for the company that I work for.
Their contract didn't save my ass. It hasn't done anything for me. They aren't recalling pilots at XJ. I just don't agree with pilots thinking that the sun finally came out and everything is better. Especially when the pay rates have now been split and SF340 pilot rates are now lower than what they were at XJ.
I talked to the negotiating committee members, it was a compromise. I get that. But it's not the time to say that Pinnacle and Mesaba are now the best regionals out there. It's still the same Colgan and Pinnacle management that has been bending over pilots for the past decade.
I'm not thinking me me me. I'm thinking us us us. My comment may have come across as harsh, it was not intended as such. We are all fighting for the same thing and it's really not the right thing the think that ANY regional is better than another. But some are respectable and some aren't.

If you are calling Colgan a bottom feeder then XJ is too, because we all have the same contract.
The new rates on the Saab are still the top for that airplane in the industry if you do not look at the XJ grandfathered rates. Did you expect anyone at XJ to take a paycut?
The rates needed to be split, XJ has ridden the backs of the jet FO's for years with that stupid combined rate.
You will be called back very soon and Pinnacle is poised to be a major player in the regional industry.
