Does anyone have any ideas on what the track from PHL 190 FO to PHX 320 FO might look like? Considering the 76 on furlough, I'm wondering what a new hire might encounter.

190 trains in CLT, but you may do indoc in PHX (and you may do some or all of your sim in MCO at 'JetBlue U').

I don't think there is any way to go from PHL to PHX (East to West) at the moment.

No way to get East to West under the current "period of separate operations". You would bid East or West domicile in new-hire class depending on what your seniority could hold. Since the West still has pilots on furlough, it is currently not possible for a new-hire to bid a West domicile. All new hires will be East pilots, and could transfer West only under two possibile scenarios:

1) The pilot's union finally realizes that they will not get DOH for the seniority list integration, they accept the arbitrated seniority award, and negotiate and ratify a new CBA. (A new CBA would not only allow East to go West, but West could go East as well).

2) Prior to a new CBA, if the East were to furlough pilots and the West was recalling or hiring pilots, then the furloughed East pilots could go West, but would be placed at the bottom of the West active pilot seniority list. This scenario has already been utilized twice. Furloughed East pilots got the opportunity to transfer West and become active West pilots in the late 2000's. Currently, in the early 2010's, furloughed West pilots are being offered the opportunity to transfer East as active pilots.

Thanks for the info! I guess I should have known that. I've spent some quality time in jumpseats with both east and west crews. The next thing I'm wondering about: would the west pilots carry any animosity toward the new east pilots? Again, I'm considering those folks who were furloughed. I know what that's like. I don't want to start any drama, but I'm just trying to get a realistic feel for the opportunity.

Disclaimer: I certainly don't want to cause any drama by saying this, and I'm certainly not trying to be disrespectful to any pilot or pilot group. I'm just stating the facts as I see it.

To answer your question, there may be some. Many Delta pilots feel animosity towards Comair pilots, even though many of them, including myself, were not even here at Comair when many of the shenanigans that (perhaps rightfully) caused the Delta pilots to feel that way toward Comair. I was not here when many of the political games of past MEC administrations were played, yet I have personally had a few "run ins" if you will with some Delta pilots, especially when trying to jumpseat. It is not all of them, mind you, but there are a few that hold a grudge and can't get over the past -- on both sides -- Comair and Delta alike.

So in short, yes, there may be some animosity from a select few.

Again, I'm not being disrespectful to any Delta pilot or Comair pilot, although I'm sure someone will try to find a way to filet me for saying this. I think the both pilot groups should move forward and get over the past shenanigans and mistakes of former MEC administrations.

Thanks for your input, but why bring Delta and Comair into a thread about US Airways?

You're talking about issues that occured between a major airline and it's regional partner. Flying V is asking about animosity between pilots who work for the same major airline, who will hold a position on the same seniority list, but are under two different CBAs in two geographically different areas for the time being.

Understood. I was just attemtping to highlight the fact (perhaps unsucessfully) that sometimes you will catch fall out from issues that are plaguing your airline within the pilot ranks eventhough you had nothing to do with them and you weren't even on the seniority list when they occured.

I wasn't attempting to compare the issues between CMR/DAL with the issues between USAirways and America West pilots, nor would I ever presume that they are comparable. I was just pointing out that grudges can be held.

I can see how those signals could be crossed, and my apologies.

I wouldn't think there *should* be any animosity. The East 190 FO positions are being offered to West furloughees before new hires. They can't be forced back to it, but they have the option. Hard to blame somebody else for taking a position you first turned down yourself ...

Just my $0.02 ...

What does any of this have to do with hiring? Do a search and you'll find at least ten other threads on the subject of East/West relations.
